Old Town

timber-framed architecture - carpentry at its best

Halberstadt made a name for itself as an outstandting example of German timber-framed architecture in the past. It has maintained this reputation right up to present day thanks to its wide variety of architectural assets bearing witness to five centuries of history.

The buildings in the winding Rosenwinkel and Vogtei lanes are prime examples of clourful and fanciful half-timbered houses. The Am Kulk and Grudenberg streets, on the other hand, are characterised by their proud and resplendent merchant's houses.

Halberstadt is a magnificent stop along the German half-timbered House Road.
