the "cave dwellers" of Langenstein

[(c): Stefan Herfurth]

The cave houses built into the soft sandstone in the village of Langenstein are a unique testimony to how people lived in Germany in prehistoric times.

The tiny cute housings are located below a partial-sandstone hill. They were inhabited untill the 20th century.

Opening hours

Some of the cave dwellings are open year round.

All cave dwellings can only be visited with a guided tour.
